Why do we say “second-hand object” when we talk about second-hand goods?
A second-hand item is first and foremost an opportunity. A second-hand object doesn't correspond to fixed criteria, it isn't chosen like a microwave in a department store. Second-hand objects are encountered. We let ourselves be surprised, open to chance, or already with an idea in mind, to which the object found rarely corresponds.
Occasion is a magazine which, in each issue, offers a starting point for creative proposals and reflections on second-hand objects.
In short - you guessed it - an opportunity to create, together. Whether viewed as a social phenomenon, a practice or a different way of relating to objects
a different way of relating to objects, seems to inspire artists and theorists alike.
With Occasion, we wanted to show the beauty of these objects, and the interest of the activities they generate: purchase, resale, collection, restoration, upcycling, (re)valorization, but also collective creation.
